Customer Review: Great Antenna for DTV
I just got this today since my rabbit ears were not receiving Digital TV signals very well. I put the antenna together within 15 minutes (WARNING: the directions could be much better!--if you are not technically inclined, you may experience problems putting the few pieces together for the UHF signal--the VHF part of the antenna arrives pre-made). I put the antenna in the attic and was worried since we are surround by buildings. Using antennaweb, I pointed the antenna in the proper direction for the stations I wanted and voila, we are receiving perfect digital signals--all crystal clear. For $30, you can't beat this antenna. My only complaint is that the directions for assembly are not clear, but if you look at the picture on the box, it is not difficult to figure out Philips's hieroglyphs. Also, for some reason one of our local stations is broadcasting its digital signal on VHF (most are UHF)--other antenna's wouldn't receive it, but this one does. The antenna also comes with a splitter, so you can split your signal for your FM radio.

I have three analog TV's with matching VCR's hooked up to Comcast basic cable. When I installed the Philips MANT900 antenna on the roof of my one story house I pointed the antenna in the direction of the stations suggested on the Antenna Web map. I had previously applied to this website for the TV station locations in relation to my house. I live approximately 50 miles from Miami and the signal reception for digital far surpasses anything I've seen so far, including Comcast cable. I hooked up an AB switch to alternate between analog and digital. The analog signal is no comparison to the digital, but I still can record on my VCR for the time being. I thought the assembly instructions for the antenna were confusing so I referred to the picture. After I installed a splitter I noticed no reception on channel 2, PBS Miami, on the TV's furthest from the antenna. I read a review that recommended using a signal booster. I hope that works. As far as the antenna quality, the analog reception is reminiscent of the signal I received before we had cable. The construction is flimsy, but so are antennas costing a lot more. For the $40 price, I was able to find out that I can pick-up 37 local stations with exceptional picture reproduction and spending more in the future on any up-grade would be worth pursuing. In case you are wondering, you can hook-up your TV antenna to the existing cable connection. It's the same RG-6 cable at 75 ohms that connects to the antenna fitting.
